París.- “Tras los acontecimientos en la región”, el Dakar 2027, previsto del 1 al 15 de enero próximos, no se celebrará en Arabia Saudita sino en otra localización, indicaron este domingo los organizadores en un comunicado.

En julio, tras varios años de tregua, se reanudó el conflicto entre los hutíes de Yemen y Arabia Saudita, con ataques diarios que golpean al reino del Golfo.

Amaury Sport Organisation (A.S.O.) and Saudi Motorsport Company (SMC) have jointly decided that Dakar Saudi Arabia 2027, scheduled from 1 to 15 January 2027, will not be held in the Kingdom, following recent developments in the region.
This decision is exceptional and one-off and was taken in close coordination with the Saudi Automobile and Motorcycle Federation (SAMF), and with the support of the FIA and the FIM.

Since 2020, Saudi Arabia has hosted seven consecutive editions of Dakar, welcoming competitors from around the world on routes that showcased the Kingdom’s remarkable geographical diversity. These editions have made Saudi Arabia an integral part of the Dakar community and established a strong, long-term strategic partnership between A.S.O., SMC and SAMF. All three organisations reaffirm their commitment to continuing their cooperation, developing motorsport in the Kingdom and delivering outstanding experiences for competitors, teams and fans.

El emplazamiento del Dakar 2027 será anunciado en los próximos días.

Según varios medios especializados, la opción preferida sería una salida desde España con destino a Marruecos. Sería la primera vez desde 2007 que el rally, creado en 1979, regresaría al continente africano.

Anulado en 2008 debido a temores de atentados, el Dakar cambió posteriormente de continente para disputarse en América del Sur de 2009 a 2019.

Desde 2020, todas las ediciones se habían celebrado en Arabia Saudita.

“Arabia Saudita acogerá el Dakar 2028, una edición histórica que celebrará la 50ª edición del rally“, aseguran los organizadores en el comunicado.

Debido a la guerra en Oriente Medio, varios eventos deportivos han sido anulados desde principios de año. La Fórmula 1 canceló así los Grandes Premios de Arabia Saudita (Yeda) y Baréin en abril, y trasladó este último a Malasia a comienzos de octubre.

El Rally de Arabia Saudita, 14ª y última prueba del Mundial WRC, que debía celebrarse en Yeda en noviembre, también fue cancelado y no será reemplazado.

Los dos últimos GP de la temporada de F1 en Catar (27-29 de noviembre) y Abu Dabi (4-6 de diciembre) se mantienen por ahora según el programa inicial, al igual que el Gran Premio de MotoGP de Catar, previsto para el 8 de noviembre, pero son objeto de intensos debates internos.
